S Club – Say Goodbye

‘Say Goodbye’ is one of those rare occasions where the final single from a pop act was actually intended to be their swansong.

‘You’re My Number One’ is indelibly tied to S Club 7’s formative years in look and sound, but established a reliable formula for the group.

‘Alive’ ended up serving as more of an epilogue to S Club’s career, but for a brief moment it heralded a new era for the group.

Although ‘Love Ain’t Gonna Wait For You’ was to be S Club’s final single, at least they were considerate enough to warn us beforehand.

‘Have You Ever’ was a last-minute addition to the well-oiled S Club 7 machine, but it was all in the name of charity…

‘Natural’ marks an oft-overlooked transition towards adulthood for S Club 7, using an iconic classical sample as only they could.

For their second single, S Club 7 went on an all-out offensive to firmly establish their brand identity with the brilliant ‘S Club Party’.

‘Bring It All Back’ might have heralded the arrival of S Club 7. But behind the scenes, this was really Simon Fuller’s return to chart glory.

It’s hard to imagine any other pop act besides S Club 7 having the sheer panache to pull off a song like ‘Reach’.

With a rocket shoved up its arse, ‘You’ was elevated from an unremarkable album track into one of S Club 7’s most brilliant singles.
